Treaty 7 Land Acknowledgment
We would like to honour the original caretakers of the land. We would like to acknowledge our Treaty 7 friends, where the Blackfoot Nations of Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai meet at Elbow’s bend. Soon came the Tsuut’ina from the Beaver Clan, and the Îethka Stoney Nakoda in the mountain lands. Last, but not least, Métis people from Region 3. Together, we’re all treaty people here in Calgary. And, as what is now known as Canada’s only National Museum of Sport, we would also like to honour and acknowledge all of the other vast, diverse and resilient First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities with whom we work as well as the traditional territories and lands on which we work. We are grateful for your friendship, collaboration and partnership, and we are committed to working together towards the path of Truth & Reconciliation.
Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in located on Treaty 7 land. To learn more about the original caretakers of the land on which you reside, including territories, Indigenous languages, and treaties, click HERE.
